Privacy Policy
Last updated June 9, 2026
Sift helps you decide whether a video is worth your time. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use Sift, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and we never sell your data.
User Accounts
You can use Sift without an account. Creating an account lets you sync your history, saved analyses, saved creators, and collections across devices. When you register we store your email address and a unique account identifier.
Google Sign-In
If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with Sift so we can create or sign you into your account. Sift never receives your Google password and does not access your Gmail, contacts, or other Google services.
Email Authentication
If you sign up with email and password, your password is hashed by our authentication provider before storage. We can never see your plain-text password. Password reset links are sent to the email address on file.
Saved Analyses, Saved Creators, and Collections
When you save an analysis, save a creator, or add an item to a collection, we store that item under your account so we can show it back to you. Only you can see your saved items and collections.
Search and Analysis History
When you analyze a video, Sift records the video URL, public metadata (title, channel, thumbnail, duration), the analysis result, and the time of the request, linked to your account. You can clear history at any time from the History page.
Data Storage
Account data and history are stored with our managed backend provider. Analyses of public YouTube content may be cached so that repeat requests are faster and cheaper for everyone.
Security Practices
Traffic to Sift is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to account data is restricted by row-level security so that only you can read or modify your data. We rely on industry-standard authentication and follow the principle of least privilege for all internal access.
Your Choices
- Clear individual items or your entire history from the History page.
- Remove saved analyses, saved creators, or collections at any time.
- Request account deletion by contacting us; this removes your personal data.
Children
Sift is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the Last updated date at the top of this page.
